The Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Dr. Michael Gbadebo, has revealed that the kidnappers of wife of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, (AIG) Hakeem Odumosu, Mrs. Odumosu, are demanding a ransom of ₦40million for her release.
Recall that the abduction occurred on Thursday night in Arepo, Obafemi Owode local government area of Ogun State. According to reports, four masked men accosted Mrs. Odumosu around 9:55 p.m., as she was entering her residence. The assailants reportedly dragged her out of her Lexus SUV and led her through a swampy area to an undisclosed location.
Speaking at the 49th President’s party of the Abeokuta Club, where he serves as the grand patron, Oba Gbadebo, disclosed that the abductors had contacted the police, demanding the hefty ransom.
According to him, “The kidnappers have called the Police, asking for ₦40 million.
The monarch lamented the incident, describing it as a grave security concern. He, however, commended Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, for his commitment to enhancing security in the State.
Meanwhile, six days after the abduction, Mrs. Odumosu remains in captivity, with no reports of her rescue. Efforts to reach the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, were unsuccessful, as her phone was switched off at the time of filing this report.
